Plaza de Catalunya is not only the largest square in Barcelona, but also a daily gathering place for thousands of pigeons. But in an attempt to get the pigeons off the square, Barcelona have now launched a venture that enlists the help of falcons.
– This is a very natural way. Humans are the ones who have provided them with a lot of food, they have lost their fear of us, says falconer Julio Viñas Señorans,
At the same time, not everyone sees the pigeons as a problem.
– It does not bother me. I love to see them, play with them and feed them, says a visitor to the square.
