Pieterse excels in mountain biking and cyclo-cross. She doesn’t do major road races that often. And she had never done a multi-day stage race with the finish on the Alpe d’Huez before. “I wasn’t dreading it, I was mainly curious. It was a big challenge and I’m glad I took it on,” the Amersfoort native told RTV Utrecht. It turned out to be extremely tough. “It’s going okay now, but yesterday I was really done.”
