The 27-year-old forward, with Troja-Ljungby as the parent club, struck with just over two minutes left in the match in Toronto.
It was his sixth hit of the season and just his second in the last 19 games.
– I haven’t played as well as I can lately, so I want to play better. But it worked really well tonight and we played well within the chain, says Pierre Engvall who spent four seasons in Toronto before being traded to the Islanders at the end of last February.
– I played here for a long time and to win over your former teammates always feels good, he says.

William Nylander had an assist in Toronto’s 2–2 tie, but the first game after the All-Star break was a disappointing one for Toronto.
Mika Zibanejad played up to Alexis Lafrenières winning goal in overtime as the New York Rangers defeated Colorado 2–1.
Colorado’s Nathan MacKinnon scored for fifth consecutive game and point for 14th consecutive game.
