Late in the Lucia evening, a video broadcast was broadcast where the Gävlebocken appeared to be burning once more. But the whole thing turned out to be a hoax, Gefle Dagblad reports.

The rescue service tells the newspaper that someone managed to create a fake video broadcast where it looks like the goat is on fire. The real Gävle goat is safely in its place, shows a live broadcast on Gävle municipality’s website.

The ill-fated Gävlebock was first erected in 1966, but has burned more times than it has been allowed to remain unscathed over the years. At least seven times it has also been subjected to other attacks, including being run over by a raggar truck.

Last year, the goat was left alone by humans, but was instead eaten by hungry jackals.
