A man was charged after a pickup linked to a local theft was found ablaze Tuesday, Chatham-Kent police say.

Officers called Sass Road in Chatham found a Dodge Ram 1500 on fire on railway tracks, police said. Investigation revealed the stolen truck was used in a theft from Walmart Tuesday.
Video from area businesses showed a man get into the truck in the parking lot and drive away with stolen property from Walmart, said police, who arrested a suspect.
A Chatham man, 48, is charged with possessing stolen property valued at more than $5,000 and possessing stolen property valued at less than $5,000, police said. He was held pending a bail hearing.

Chatham-Kent police recommend homeowners follow a 9 pm routine to help reduce the chances of theft.
Here is a checklist for homeowners to follow by 9 pm every night, which includes:
- Remove valuables and garage door opener from your vehicle.
- Lock your vehicle.
- Close the overhead garage door.
- Lock the door between the garage and house.
- Close and lock all external doors.
- Ensure windows are closed and locked.
- Turn on an exterior light.
