Compared to last year, the number of pickpocketing cases has increased in all provinces. In the province of Utrecht, there are 269 cases in the period from January to May 2022. This is an increase of 67.1 percent compared to a year earlier. Utrecht is therefore not the province where pickpockets were most active. That is the case in Groningen, where the increase in all provinces was fastest: from 20 to 87 cases, more than four times as much. In Limburg and Noord-Holland, the number tripled.
