The City of Brantford’s Healthy Kids Bright Futures is promoting physical activity with a campaign called Has Your Child Skipped Rope Today? aimed at children 14 and under. The campaign highlights the benefits of physical activity on childhood development and learning.
Families can also win one of two $100 gift cards to Brant Sports Excellence by participating in the Healthy Kids Bright Futures photo contest.
“Just 10 minutes of physical activity a day can stimulate the brain, improve concentration, enhance problem-solving skills and strengthen memory,” said Bethany Letto, the city’s community initiatives coordinator.
Free skipping ropes are available, while supplies last, at these city facilities:

Children enrolled in city summer camps during the week of July 15 to 19 will also receive a free skipping rope and participate in skipping activities.
Enter the Healthy Kids Bright Futures photo contest by uploading a photo of a child skipping rope to LetsTalkBrantford.ca/HealthyKids. The contest closes on Aug. 31. Winners will be randomly drawn the week of Sept. 2.
