Warning, spoilers for Star Trek: Picard Episode 9: The series finale of Star Trek: Picard is already running next week. Then it’s time to say goodbye to Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) and his former Enterprise crew, who found each other again in Season 3 for one last adventure together.
Before the big farewell, the series surprises the fans of the cult series Star Trek: The Next Generation aka TNG with a breathtakingly nostalgic moment in the penultimate episode waited almost three decades have.
Star Trek brings the Enterprise D back from retirement
In the vox titled 9th episode, the events overturn. Among other things, we learn that behind the changeling conspiracy there is also a Borg conspiracy. On Frontier Day, almost all of Starfleet is assimilated. Now it’s up to the crew around Jean-Luc Picard to stop the Borg.
First, however, they must find an escape vehicle that is analog and not networked to the rest of Starfleet’s starship armada. Luckily, that’s when Geordi La Forge’s (LeVar Burton) love for vintage spacecraft is paying off. Because in a hangar at the Starfleet Museum he has the old Enterprise D has been restored for the last 20 years.

Back on the Enterprise D
Here bounce right now two special Star Trek events on each other. For the first time since Star Trek – Nemesis, all the main TNG main characters are completely united on a spaceship bridge. And then also on the Enterprise D. It is the first time since 1994 that the iconic spaceship is back in action.
After serving faithfully through 7 seasons of The Next Generation, the NCC-1701-D was destroyed in the feature film Star Trek VII – Generations. From the follow-up film Star Trek VIII: First Contact, Picard’s crew flew through space in the new model Enterprise E.
The episode fully savors the moment of returning to the Enterprise. Together with the TNG darlings, we briefly reminisce while the familiar voice of the on-board computer (through recordings of Majel Barrett, who died in 2008) sounds over the loudspeakers and Picard, who himself particularly pleased with the Enterprise’s carpeted floorhis iconic onliners “Do it like this!“unde”Energy!” bang out.
