5:30 p.m. – End of this second physics-chemistry session
It is 5:30 p.m., the students can no longer write anything on their papers, it is time to give them to the examiners. It is the end of this second session of the physics-chemistry test, all the students who chose this subject as a specialty for the baccalaureate have now passed. 16:40 – A still balanced subject
Unlike yesterday, the subject of today’s physics-chemistry test includes one physics exercise and two chemistry exercises. This time it is the physics exercise which is made up of sixteen questions, or half of the test. Note that there are fewer questions in this subject, which does not mean that it is simpler or shorter. We will have to wait for the answer key to see what answers were expected.

15:00 – Where to see the subject of the physics-chemistry test?
Some candidates for the 2024 baccalaureate have been working on the physics-chemistry test for an hour now. In a few moments, the subject of the test will be published on this page and you will be able to discover it. As a reminder, the subject of the physics-chemistry test is normally available one hour and fifteen minutes after the start of the test, this was the case yesterday and also in other years. This delay is a precautionary measure so that any latecomers cannot find the subject before entering their examination room.
2:01 p.m. – The physics-chemistry test has started
Candidates taking the physics-chemistry test have just entered the examination room and read the subject, they now have until 5:30 p.m. to answer the three exercises presented to them. The physics-chemistry test is particularly technical, candidates must therefore be sufficiently organized so that at the end of the 3.5 hours of the test they have completed everything.
12:50 – How is the physics-chemistry test graded
Like all specialties, the physics-chemistry test has a coefficient of 16 in the baccalaureate, but unlike certain other subjects, the practical test and the written test are not equivalent. In physics and chemistry, the written test counts for 80% of the final mark and the practical test for 20%, this does not mean that candidates can ignore it.
11:50 – Physics or chemistry: can we prioritize a theme?
For the physics-chemistry test, candidates must work on three exercises. During yesterday’s test, two exercises focused on physics and only one on chemistry, but when the questions were combined, the treatment of the two themes was rather balanced. Of the 34 questions, the first exercise had 15, the second 9 and the third 10, so candidates can expect a similar distribution but nothing is certain. If these are only approximations, some specialized sites have already speculated on what the subject of the physics-chemistry specialty test could be. For this year 2024, the most likely subjects would be, according to Digischool were: “modeling of acid-base transformations by hydrogen ion transfers”, “direction of evolution of an acid-base system” and “link between the actions applied to a system and its movement”.
Conversely, the topics deemed less likely to fall were: “organic synthesis strategy”, “description of a movement” and “wave phenomena”. These propositions are hypothetical and will remain so until students discover the topics.
The results of the physics-chemistry specialty test will be available from July 8, 2024 as for all the other tests of the baccalaureate. As a reminder, the physics-chemistry exam is made up of two parts, the final mark is obtained by multiplying the mark of the written test by 0.8 and that of the practical test by 0.2.
