It was another successful Chatham-Kent Polar Plunge for Special Olympics Ontario that was held at the Sons of Kent Brewing Co. in Chatham on Saturday.

“We’re here to promote the values and acceptance of empowerment through sports. . . to ensure every Special Olympics athlete has the opportunity to shine regardless of any challenges that they face,” said co-organizer Chatham-Kent police officer Sgt. Jason Herder.
Herder said the $50,000 fundraising goal had already been surpassed reaching $57,060 for Special Olympics Ontario before the first plunger entered the pool.
The fundraising continued as Mayor Darrin Canniff and others took the plunge put out a challenge to match donations they were making.
