Philips is betting on the brand new OLED EX panel, from LG, for the 807, its next television

Philips is betting on the brand new OLED EX panel

TP Vision, parent company of Philips has unveiled its new range of televisions for 2022. If the replacement for the traditional The One is doing well, it is the OLED 807, the new premium model that is attracting all eyes.
Indeed, the brand’s flagship will be based on the use of the brand new LG Display panel, the famous OLED EX, which the Korean manufacturer will also integrate into its C2 and G2.
The promise of this slab is anything but trivial. This is a gain of 30% in brightness compared to a conventional OLED panel (that of the LG B1, for example).

To run this slab, Philips will use its P5 processor, one of the most efficient on the market, which is moving to the sixth generation. It gains a little more in artificial intelligence, and offers the most advanced features of the moment such as the ambient light sensor or Imax Enhanced, which increases the contrast between the foreground and the background image to gain relief.
In terms of image, there is no real surprise insofar as TP Vision makes sure, each year, to offer what is best from the competition.

Deep into video games

Where Philips has managed to surprise his world is by finally assuming a video game part that he has long neglected before suddenly taking an interest in it last year.
In 2022, it is no longer a question of making an HDMI port compatible with 2.1, the OLED 807 goes much further. The two HDMI 2.1 ports on the television are compatible with eARC, ALLM and VRR (from 40 Hz to 120 Hz), but also Free Sync and G-Sync, to satisfy all gamers, including those who prefer their PC to the Xbox Series X.
Finally, like Samsung or LG, Philips includes a Game Bar that provides access to the main settings on the fly.

For the rest, Philips’ proposal is a continuation of its television sets from last year. That is to say models running Android TV, compatible with all existing HDR formats (Dolby Vision and HDR10+), and of course equipped with a four-sided Ambilight system that has been the salt of Philips TVs for years.
Special mention also to the new central foot of the TV with finesse and subtlety.
The manufacturer has not yet revealed the price of its new OLED reference. It should be available in 48, 55, 65 and 77 inches. Be careful however, the 48-inch version should not carry an OLED EX panel, but the previous version, the EVO.
