Voices can displease just as much as they can seduce. In “A Cappella”, the latest novel by Philippe Vasset, the narrator seduced by a voice is surprised to overwhelm a star whose timbre he admires. But this improvised lyricist struggles to make his words sound. A failure that leads him more and more into an obsessive exploration of the voice.
