We distinguish three major functions of the larynx :

  1. it passes food from the mouth to the esophagus during the swallowing phase, which includes it in the digestive system,
  2. it also passes the air entering through the nose and mouth towards the larynx located in the neck then the trachea, which includes it in the respiratory system,
  3. finally, it plays a role in language by influencing the sounds emitted by the vocal cords located in the larynx.

We distinguish Three parties on the pharynx, from top to bottom: the nasopharynx connected to the nasal cavity, the oropharynx connected to the mouth and the hypopharynx.
