PG Gyllenhammar was CEO of Volvo between 1971 and 1983 and chairman of the board from 1983 to 1993.
He was voted Sweden’s most popular person for several years. He is known as both a business profile and a politician
It was PG that was behind the decision to discontinue the Volvo P1800, an iconic sports car, and instead invested in safe family wagons.

During his years at Volvo, he had a series of flashy company cars that reflected his personality as Sweden’s foremost industrial leader.
He had a Volvo 244 Turbo, a 262 Coupé and a 780.
Volvo themselves express it as:
– No other person in modern Swedish industrial history can, in terms of power, charisma and influence on social development, compete with him.

PG Gyllenhammar’s company cars were all signal red, a color that was not part of the brand’s regular range.
– If today’s industry leaders often choose to keep a low profile, often for security reasons, it was nothing for Gyllenhammar. His custom-built company cars were from the late 70s and well into the 80s painted in an intense signal red color.
– I wanted a color that was cheeky, challenging and had nerve, said PG himself.
Per Gyllenhammar five children and passed away in Canada.
