The abbreviation PFAS stands for per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances. It is a collective name for chemicals that are man-made. The fabrics are heat-resistant and dirt- and water-repellent. For example, they are found in non-stick raincoats, but also in fire-fighting foam. PFAS end up in the environment and ultimately in our bodies. Once in your blood, they almost never leave.
