The battle over the toxins in Uppsala residents’ drinking water continues, reports P4 Uppland. In a report that the Swedish Armed Forces have long refused to release, it appears that they released five times as much hormone-disrupting PFAS substances than they had requested permission for.

In 1993, the Swedish Armed Forces requested permission to use 300 liters of PFAS-containing fire foam annually for fire drills at Ärna airfield. According to the hitherto secret report, large quantities of the fire foam were tested daily over the airfield, up to 1,400 liters per year.

According to P4 Uppland, the Armed Forces say that the permit from 1993 is not decisive but that they do not comment further with reference to ongoing litigation.
