Alvar Myhlback is one of Sweden’s biggest ski talents.
But soon he must make a crucial decision.
– He can’t do both. He has to decide, says Norwegian TV expert Petter Solng Skinstad to the Sports Bible.
Last week the message came to Alvar Myhlback18, is left outside the Swedish junior national team squad that will compete in JVM in early February. The big talent won two JVM gold last year, but this year he has not competed in the necessary qualifying competitions, which resulted in him not being selected.

Alvar himself was very upset about the decision.
– I can’t understand it. Of course annoying as I really would like to join. It’s boring, he says at a press conference and continues:
– I don’t think it should be a discussion. It takes a lot of energy which is a shame. And that it is not fair. They make a decision they know is not good for any of us. I just think it’s totally stupid.

Basically, Myhlback is a long -distance runner whose highest dream is to win the Vasaloppet. With the petition from JVM in cross-country skiing-and the fact that he is far away from the Senior World Cup this year-there is now even more time for him to invest in Ski Classics. The 18-year-old has always wanted to combine the two branches, but it can be difficult in the future.
Petter Skinstad’s opinion on Alvar
According to the Norwegian TV2 expert Petter Solng SkinstadAs previously competed in both length and long runs, Alvar must soon decide whether to invest fully on long -distance or traditional skiing.
– He is a really, really great talent. But Alvar must soon make a decision. Alvar must soon decide whether he should go all in on long runs, which he is already very good at and which he can be the best in the world on pretty soon, or if he should do just the opposite and then he has to put away the stake in Higher than he has done so far, he says in an interview with the Sports Bible.

The Norwegian believes that Alvar is at a perfect age to focus on a specific branch. If he does not take the chance now, he risks slipping after the other riders too much.
– He can’t do both. He must decide. Because then he has to put away the stake, get down on the snow and bend ankles, knees and hips, get the mechanics and movement pattern that is in classic, traditional skiing and in skate. Otherwise, the train goes.
Says Alvar can be the best in the world
Petter Solng Skinstad continues:
– He is at a time in his career when he can work with technology, mechanics and speed. He never gets that opportunity again. You can go from traditional skiing to long runs, but you cannot go from long -running to traditional skiing if you invest in long -distance races as a youth. I think that is not possible. You miss too much speed, technology and sense of the sport.

– Then I think the result is that he will not be the best at anything. Alvar can still become one of the world’s best cross -country skiers and be up there with Calle (Halfvarsson)The William (Poromaa) and Edvin (indicates) And not least Harald Östberg Amundsen and Johannes Hösflot Kläbo. But then he has to decide on it. He doesn’t get that chance again, so he has to make that choice now while he is young.
