Petter Northug has opened his mouth before the skiing WC.
And threw himself in as the most unexpected WC joker.
“Creating trouble for the national team coach Eirik Myhr Nossum before the selection for the WC,” writes the Norwegian on Instagram.
He’s as quick in his tracks as he is with his mouth, the good one Peter Northug. Now the controversial Norwegian is at it again with a new outing ahead of the upcoming Skiing World Cup where Norway are big favorites on the men’s side.
Northug won
On Sunday, Northug showed the entire skiing world that he still has a lot of speed and stamina in him. The 37-year-old won the classic long-distance race between Toblach and Cortina, which has been run since 1977.

Northug was also not slow to send a clear pass to his home country after crossing the finish line first of all.
“Creating trouble for the national team coach Eirik Myhr Nossum before the selection for the WC in Planica by delivering in Toblach”, Northug writes on Instagram together with the victory picture of himself, see it below.

Norway’s response
The Norwegian national team coach Eirik Myhr Nossum will soon introduce the country’s WC squad to Planica, Slovenia, and now has the most unexpected WC joker around his neck. The national team coach also felt compelled to answer Northug after the clear pass.
“Don’t you have a free ticket for everything over 30 km in Slovenia after the slaughter in Rogla -09. At least I think so,” writes Myhr Nossum on Instagram.

Of course, this is mostly about jokes and funny slips from Northug’s side. No one probably believes that he is the least bit relevant for the skiing WC, instead he will cover the biathlon WC here next as an expert for Norwegian TV2.

Swedish Björn Sandström, who recently won SM gold in the 15 km freestyle, came third in the long race between Toblach and Cortina. He finished just under a minute after the winner Petter Northug.
