Perry Olsson did not gain continued confidence in the Swedish herding team.
Petter Northug sees the decision and now reveals that he wants to hire the Swedish star rider for his long-distance venture.
– Regardless of whether it is a reorganization or not, there must be room for Perry Olsson. Now I have asked if he wants to help me, says the ski profile.
The skiing world was stunned when it became known at the end of April that Perry Olssonconsidered by many to be one of the world’s best fencers, is not allowed to continue in the Swedish national ski team.
Northug’s criticism
Peter Northug, who has won 13 WC golds and two Olympic golds, had Olsson as his personal trainer. He was very surprised by the poke.
– He will be involved in laying down the premises in the new herd team. Now it won’t be like that, which is strange before an important WC season, he tells TT.

Will the Swedish national team’s fielding capacity get worse now?
– I think so, absolutely. They miss a lot when it loses his competence. It is difficult to replace such a skilled fencer as Perry Olsson. I can’t understand why one of the world’s all-time best fencers wasn’t allowed to continue.
Olsson worked for the Norwegian national team 2003–2020. At the time, Northug was one of the world’s best skiers. Northug says that the Swedish star player meant a lot to his success.
– He was decisive for me to get good skis. He was a security with ski tests and had good contact with the ski factory.
Olsson’s future
Perry Olsson has received offers from at least one other national ski team. Which nation is still a secret. But Petter Northug also wants to hire him for his upcoming long-distance venture (Northug has not decided whether he will start his own team or be part of another).
– I have already spoken to Perry (Olsson) about this and hope he will have the opportunity to help me while he is working with his new national team.

The herd manager Anders Svanebo is working on reorganizing the Swedish herding team. But so far the riders have received very little information about what will happen. This causes Petter Northug to react.
– The dikes should be in place soon. We are almost in June and it is important to have a good relationship with your sire.
He continues:
– This is important especially when we know that the Swedish ski ladies became insecure at the end of the season. You could see it when they reached the finish line. They were annoyed and disappointed. Then it is very important that the Swedish riding team arrives early and gets a system that the Swedish riders feel comfortable with.
