Petter Northug now says what everyone is thinking – after the Swedish success in the World Cup premiere: “I think that she…”

Swedish success and Norwegian failure.
Then Petter Northug directs criticism.
– They solve it poorly technically and tactically, says the skiing icon to TV 2.

World Cup premiere in Ruka during the weekend. Then 10 kilometers classic style and 20 kilometers freestyle await. But first up was the sprint in classic style, which was carried out on Friday.

Norwegian fiasco

Then, as so many times before in recent years, it was the Swedes who dominated. Emma Ribom, Jonna Sundling, Frida Karlsson and Lynn Svahn all made it to the finals. After a tight race between Ribom and Sundling, it was, just like last year’s sprint in Ruka, Emma Ribom who stood at the top of the podium.

It was a tougher day for the Norwegians. The star skater Lotta Udnes Weng went out already in the qualifiers. In the quarter-finals, everyone left Ingrid Andrea Gulbrandsen, Ane Appelvkist Stenseth, Mathilde Myhrvold and Anna Svendsen out. The only Norwegian who made it to the semi-finals was Kristine Stavå’s Ski City.

Northug’s play

Stavås Skistad then advanced from the semi-finals on time. In the final she came third, but was never really close to threatening Ribom and Sundling for first and second place.
Peter Northugwho is now a distance expert on TV 2, was critical after the competition.
– I think that she (Stavås Skistad) is satisfied with a third place, it is very well received. The rest of the girls are a little disappointed. It seems that they have not trained on the last slope and they solve it poorly technically and tactically, says the skiing icon to the Norwegian channel.

The 24-year-old hits back at Northug’s claim that she is happy with third place.
– No I am not. But I’m doing the best I can today and then I can’t do more. I have to be satisfied that I manage to do my best. The result is not where I want to be, but it turned out the way it did, says Stavås Skistad to TV 2.
