University professor Ineke van Herwijnen does not agree that pets only have to suffer one evening a year. “What we especially noticed is that such a large group of owners have noticed anxiety and stress in their pets since September,” says Van Herwijnen. “The fear is mainly due to the unpredictability. If a loud bang is heard while walking in mid-November, this can ensure that a dog does not want to go outside afterward.”
