Chairman of the Kirittri Henna Virkkusen according to Kaijansinko’s own solution.
Kaijansinkko later got a job from Kirittär in Jyväskylä, who was aware of his past. Kaijansinkko was relieved of his coaching and game management duties after the uproar. It was still unclear in December whether Kaijansinkko could continue as club leader, as he was only relieved of this post for the time being.
The Baseball Association launched an investigation into sexual harassment by Kaijansinko in December. The investigation and disciplinary proceedings are still pending.
– Due to the disciplinary procedure, the past winter has been difficult, and certainly exceptional for the team. For my part, I want to look forward to giving the team and, above all, the players peace of mind as the coming season approaches, Kaijansinkko said in the club’s press release.
In the press release, Kaijansinkko thanks the players, coaching teams, white-collar workers, the board and the support team for their joint years.
The chairman of Kiritäri, Virkkunen, tells Urheilu that the situation had not changed for the club. The club was still waiting, as it announced in December, for the Baseball Association’s report to be completed before deciding on Kaijansinko’s success as club director.
– Suek’s (Finnish Sports Ethics Center )’s part of the investigation has been completed. It has been handed over by Suek to the Baseball Federation. We have not received any more detailed information about the report, nor about the content or the more detailed processing schedule, Virkkunen says.
Kirittäret is not a party to the investigation, but according to Virkkunen, the club has given its own statements to both the Baseball Association and Suek. At the turn of the year, on the basis of a preliminary investigation, the Baseball Association decided to ask Suek to investigate the case, in addition to which it initiated disciplinary proceedings. Kaijansinkko is banned from gambling and stewards until the case is heard.
– The Baseball Association launched an investigation into the cases that were in the public domain. They were in 2014 and the second one would probably be in 2011, ie the cases that were in the public eye at that time, Virkkunen says of the reasons for the investigation.
Kaijansinkko announced his resignation yesterday, says Virkkunen.
The team of Kiritters is currently camping in Spain and preparing for the season starting in mid-May.
Kirittäret says he is putting the position of club leader in an open application. A member of the Executive Board shall perform the duties on a temporary basis Marjut Sibenberg.
Kaijansinkko has won numerous Finnish Championship medals in his career, with three Finnish Championship gold medals in his current role as Kirittärien’s second-game leader. He served as CEO of Superpesis from 2011 to 2012. Kaijasinkko was involved in a 1998 baseball match-fixing scandal and was sentenced to a short suspended prison term.
