The presenter, the comedian and the actor Petra Mede is one of Sweden’s most popular profiles, and over the years has become synonymous with, above all, Melodifestivalen and the Eurovision Song Contest.
The first time she was host of Eurovision was in 2013, and the second time was three years later – then included Måns Zelmerlöw. During the spring of 2024, Petra was the host for Eurovision in Malmö. Petra then had the actor by her side Malin Åkerman. The duo made a celebrated contribution as presenters, and Swedens radio reported that the crowd chanted Petra’s name as she took the stage.
– It wasn’t bad, and it wasn’t ordered, said Petra Mede about the cheering choir that met her.

Unlike many other famous Swedes, Petra Mede is very secretive, and she rarely shares anything from her private life. At the beginning of 2012, Petra’s daughter Adeline was born. In the beginning, Petra kept her daughter’s father a secret, but later it became clear that the father was Petra’s then new boyfriend Mattias Günther, who works as a doctor at Karolinska Hospital in Stockholm.
Petra and Mattias broke up in 2015, but still have a good relationship today and live next door in the exclusive Stockholm suburb of Bromma.
– My family lives close by and both me, my parents and sister live in Bromma. So does everyone on my daughter’s father’s side. It’s almost a bit of a cult warning. Adeline’s father and I live two minutes apart. We have a great relationship and he is a great parent. I am so happy about that, Petra Mede has told in an interview with the newspaper Healthy living.

After turning 50, Petra decided to have another child. Said and done. With the help of “all natural injections” and “all natural giant transactions” came Petra’s second daughter Paula to, something that Petra told about when she visited Carina Bergfeldts talk show.
Although Petra often gives interviews, she herself has said that the times she is private are in her summer talks or winter programs for P1, or in her autobiography “Shame and pride in Sävedalen”.
– Then I’m the one holding the pen and directing. I have interpretation priority, Petra told Hälsoliv.

Petra Mede’s sudden confession – then she broke the law
But even though Petra can be very secretive, she still chose to be surprisingly “cheeky” when she was interviewed by The ladies World.
There, Petra was asked when she last broke the law – and Petra was refreshingly honest…
– Now I think. I haven’t changed to summer tires yet, answered Petra Mede.
The expert on Petra Mede’s miss: “Can be dangerous”
Gustaf Gripenlöf Karlberg is an editor at the motor magazine Top gear.
What happens if you don’t change to summer tires in time?
– If it’s about studded tires, they are illegal to drive with after April 16. Otherwise, there is no law against driving with winter tires in the summer, says Gustaf to Nyheter24.
He explains that it is not optimal to drive with winter tires in the summer as the winter tires have a rubber compound that should be soft at low temperatures. In the summer, when it’s hot, it becomes very soft – and then the winter tires wear out faster.
But can it be dangerous – like Petra – to ignore changing to summer tyres?
– A winter tire performs worse than a summer tire on wet asphalt with an increased risk of aquaplaning, has a significantly longer braking distance on dry asphalt, and provides poorer road characteristics. In an evasive maneuver or hard braking, the tire will perform worse than a summer tire, and driving with winter tires in the summer can therefore be considered dangerous, says Gustaf to Nyheter24.
We simply have to hope that Petra has time to change by now!
