Then he received criticism from the national skiing team.
Now Settman is cracking down on the allegations against him.
You probably know the story by now. The host Peter Settman concluded Charlotte Kalla during the 2008 Sports Gala. After a sketch, the television profile ended by kissing the cross-country skier, who had just had his breakthrough after winning the Tour de Ski.
Called criticism
Charlotte hasn’t made a big deal out of it before, and in the moment she laughed the kiss off. But when she released her autobiography “Skam den som ger sig” in October, Kalla criticized Settman’s actions for the first time.
“What I was involved in live in front of an audience of millions felt outrageous and reprehensible,” she writes, among other things, in the book.

After the book was released, Settman apologized to Kalla, both publicly and privately. Both parties have confirmed that a text message has been sent with an apology to Charlotte, and Peter has responded in interviews to the criticism and said sorry. When the former actor was a guest on Kanal 5’s talk show “Bianca”, he gave new details.
Settman’s explanation
Partly, Settman says that he received the call from SVT just after he returned from his honeymoon with his new wife Carmen Navis. The 54-year-old also explains that during the Sports Gala 15 years ago he did the sketch as Ronny from “Ronny and Ragge” because Kalla had revealed that she hummed the song “Köra fort som fan” by Ronny and Ragge when she drove the final stage up to Alpe Cermis during the Tour de Ski.
– I give her a medal – like Ronny – in the form of a wunderbaum. Every now and then I didn’t feel like I had an end to this sketch, so I just kiss her. But given that she felt the way she felt, I’m the first to apologize, I regret it, says Settman to the host Bianca Ingrosso.

Shortly after the kiss at the Sports Gala, Kalla caught a cold. The illness led to her having to withdraw from a competition. Settman was then accused by the national skiing team of having infected Kalla with the kiss, and they believed that it was his fault that she missed the competition. Peter says in the program that from the national team’s side “it was money” on him. He also fights back against the fact that he was the one who gave Kalla a cold.
– I didn’t have a cold… I think she infected me, he says.
