Peter Settman breaks the silence after Charlotte Kalla’s rage – reveals the truth after all these years: “It felt reprehensible”

Charlotte Kalla reveals in a new book how angry she was at Peter Settman after an incident during the Sports Gala, to say the least.
Now the TV star breaks the silence.
– I almost only get feelings of unease, says Settman to SVT.

It was during the Sports Gala in 2008, when Peter Settman was the presenter, that the incident happened. Peter Settman went into his classic character from the show “Ronny and Ragge”, and suddenly walked up and gave the skiing star, who had just had a giant breakthrough, a kiss on the mouth. Kalla fell ill after the gala and missed upcoming World Cup competitions.

Revealing the anger 16 years later

On Tuesday, Charlotte Kalla releases her autobiography “Shame on those who give”, and then reveals, only almost 16 years later, how upset she was about what happened.

“He really took me by surprise. What I was involved in live in front of an audience of millions felt outrageous and reprehensible. My integrity took a real hit and I thought: ‘God, how difficult,'” she writes, according to Aftonbladet.

She further writes:

“I got really angry but didn’t know how to behave. Was I even allowed to be angry? Could I get up and go? Those thoughts were spinning.

I was expected to laugh. So I laughed.”

Peter Settman has today taken part in excerpts from the book, and now breaks the silence about the ski legend’s anger, in an interview with SVT, where he clearly distances himself.

– It’s very sad to hear that she felt that way, because that was absolutely not the intention. I almost only get feelings of unease. That certainly did not land well, he says to the TV channel’s website.

“Not fun today”

According to Peter Settman, even though Charlotte Kalla says she believes it in her book, it was not planned, but pure improvisation. “Ronny” first gave Charlotte Kalla a wunderbaum as a present for her win in the Tour de Ski, before the kiss then took place.

– 2008, it’s been a while, it’s been 15 years. It sounds like not that long ago, but it was a long time ago, culturally speaking. I had thought in a different way (today) when I did the improvisation. It’s just not fun today, says Settman.

In the past six months, there have been a lot of headlines surrounding the Spanish national team player Luis Rubiales, who after the World Cup final last summer kissed the player Jennifer Hermoso on the mouth. However, Peter Settman sees no similarities.

– There was a difference. Because I think you always have to think about intent. Had I stepped forward and in the role of Peter Settman, presenter, just been like this: “Thank you for a great performance.” And kiss her right on the mouth. There had been no joke in that. Not in 2008 either, I mean. That’s what I felt he (Rubiales) did, he says, and continues:

– I don’t know the man, but my interpretation was that he thought he could take the liberty of kissing her. Like some kind of “thank you”. I don’t mean I felt that. Today, even in the role of Ronny, in an improvisation, I would not have gone there for those very reasons. You have changed yourself in how you do things.
