He is one of the Nordic region’s foremost football players ever.
Now Peter Schmeichel reveals who is Sweden’s foremost of all time.
– Sweden has always had good football players, but he is the biggest, says the Danish to the Sports Bible.
There are few football players from the Nordic countries that can compare with Peter Schmeichels Fantastic career. He has won the Champions League and five Premier League titles with Manchester United as well as a brilliant European gold with Denmark among all the titles.
Schmeichel’s words
He is considered one of Denmark’s foremost football players of all time. But the goalkeeper icon also has a great love for the blue -yellow national team and has long followed Swedish football.
– I hope it goes well for you, I always follow Sweden and if Denmark does not manage to get to a championship, I cheer on Sweden instead. I have been doing this ever since the 1974 World Cup, which was the first championship I remember, says Peter to the Sports Bible at a press event in Copenhagen in connection with his new documentary “Schmeichel” at Skyshowtime.

Therefore, Peter Schmeichel can list many Swedish football players that he liked during his upbringing and watched TV.
-I am from the generation that grew up with Glenn Strömberg and Sven-Göran Eriksson in IFK Gothenburg. I sat watching them and became so fond of them. They had an absolutely fantastic team. But Sweden has always had good football players, says the 61-year-old.
Prays Zlatan high
When the Danish goalkeeper legend is given the opportunity to appoint Sweden’s foremost football player of all time, the answer is simple.
– The biggest of them all is Zlatan, that’s just it. In all the cities he has been with his personality, he is absolutely fantastic. Sometimes you are jealous of him, because he can only say things, but he says it in a way that is so fun and charming. But of course he is the one that I choose, Peter admits to the Sports Bible.

He then mentions a few more Swedish football icons that have inspired him during his upbringing.
-My first football World Cup was, as I said, 1974 with Ralf Edström, Roland Sandberg and Ronnie Hellström in the goal, so there are many to choose from. But I still have to say Zlatan.
