Peter Jöback’s brother Mikael is ill with Parkinson’s.
When the popular artist is celebrated in “What a life!” Mikael cannot attend.
Instead, he has sent a greeting in a letter – which causes Peter to break down.
– JI love my brother, I was very moved by this, he says.
During the season, we have seen big stars such as Pernilla Wahlgren, Eva Rydberg and Tomas Ledin celebrated in “Vilket liv!”. Now it has been Peter Jöback’s turn. One of the crowd who wants to pay tribute to him is his brother Mikael, who is six years older.
Mikael would have liked to be there, but instead he has sent a greeting to Peter which Renée Nyberg reads out. Even before the presenter begins to read what is written in the letter, Peter finds it difficult to hold himself together.
– You are to me a beloved little brother, first and foremost. We share the same story with the slight difference that I am six years older without being six years wiser. We experienced a hard life with our domineering father. I was the oldest, but I moved away from home as soon as there was an opportunity, Renée reads from Mikael’s letter.
– At home I was in constant conflict with our father. We two brothers grew up together but still separated. Being six years older gave me the unspoken responsibility to protect you my little brother. We always had the music with us, maybe it was our security. Peter you are a rock, my support in life, she continues reading.
The brother is seriously ill
The popular artist cries through the entire letter.
Today, both their parents are dead – and Mikael is seriously ill.
– He and I are the only ones left now from the original family, says Peter Jöback.
– Unfortunately, my brother got a disease called Parkinson’s. A terrible disease, which I wish he didn’t have. But I love my brother, I was very moved by this, he continues.
