Probably nobody knows the Lord of the Rings trilogy as well as Peter Jackson, having shot the fantasy films himself. But that’s exactly what the director thinks burdened for a while to have.

In a new podcast talk, Jackson revealed he really wanted to experience The Lord of the Rings trilogy through fan eyes, as if he were watching it for the very first time. For him it even came seriously hypnosis in question.

Years of work on the fantasy trilogy have made it impossible for the director to Watch movies with an open mind to be able to As a guest on The Hollywood Reporter’s Awards Chatter podcast, he shared his favorite way to use hypnosis to forget the movies:

When we were making the Lord of the Rings movies, I always felt like I was the unlucky person that [sie] was never allowed to see without prejudice. When they were shown, I was immersed in them for five or six years. It was such a loss for me not to be able to see her like everyone else.
I actually seriously considered going to a hypnotherapist to hypnotize me so I could forget about the movies and the work I had been doing for the last six or seven years so I could sit and enjoy could. I didn’t go through with it, but I went along with it [dem britischen Mentalisten] Derren Brown talked about it and he thought he could do it.

However, Peter Jackson will soon have the opportunity to experience a new Lord of the Rings production completely unbiased with fan eyes. As he said in the podcast conversation, the upcoming Amazon series was realized completely without his advice. He’s still looking forward to watching the episodes of the massive fantasy production.
