The actor Peter Haber recently turned 72. He has been making films since the early 1980s, and for many Swedes he is strongly associated with the police Martin Beck in the Beck movies. There have been over 50 of them. Haber also continues to make an impression on generation after generation in Santa is the father of all the children.
Financially, he has retired, but he still accepts some roles. Next year there will be another Beck film, and in 2023 he has also been seen in the TV series Tore.
For the past year, Peter Haber has been using a cane.
– I don’t have to have the cane, but it makes me feel safe that it is there, he said in an interview with The Swedish Daily.

Last autumn, Peter Haber was a guest on the TV4 program What a life! which is led by Renee Nyberg. Then it was also noticed that he seemed to have a little difficulty walking. In a new interview with Expressens Maria Brander Haber tells us more about his unknown illness. He has already had a foot operation, and another operation awaits in January.
– I have hallux rigidus, a bony lump which is very unsightly and which I want removed. But the last surgery went well. Then I don’t know what to say… I kind of don’t want this to be magnified as some serious illness or something. But I have something called polyneuropathy. So no feeling in the feet. That’s what makes me walk with a cane, he tells The Express.

Peter Haber further tells us that he goes to active walking training. There in the hospital corridors it’s easy to get around, but it becomes more difficult when he comes out into reality with “people, dogs and small children coming running”.
Peter Haber further says in the interview with Expressen that he “doesn’t feel the ground under his feet”. He is not in pain, but the disease is still bothersome.
– You don’t feel the ground under your feet. It’s like walking on bread or rice bags. Shit hard. So when I read a script and it says “Beck comes walking”, I try to minimize it, because I know that walks are still cut out, he tells Expressen.
