Sweden has started the Nations League with a narrow loss against Spain and a 1-0 win away to Italy. Two performances that have been criticized, as Sweden – number one in the world ranking – has not reached a normal level.
Gerhardsson wants to see better form
Before the previous collection, there were several leagues that still hadn’t started, but now everyone is starting the season and Peter Gerhardsson hopes that it will give the players better form.
– We need to perform at our peak. I hope that the players are in better match shape than last time, and thus can perform a little better. I think that will be needed.
“A very good player”
One person who was missing during the last collection was Caroline Seger. The team captain refused as the injury, which among other things destroyed large parts of her WC, continued to hold her back form-wise.
Since then, Seger has played regularly with Rosengård and the form curve has steadily pointed upwards.
– In terms of playing, she has looked very good, says Gerhardsson and then adds:
– The way she performed and looked, it would have been great to get Seger back, regardless of whether Elin (Rubensson) was there or not. A very good player that we get back, which is important of course.
Elin Rubensson is missing from the squad due to injury.
Sweden meets Switzerland at Ullevi on October 27 and Italy in Malmö on October 31.
