Peter Forsberg’s slightly too private greeting to an embarrassed Mats Sundin on prime time in the TV box: “No brides”

They are two of Swedish hockey’s biggest players.
But Mats Sundin had not prepared for prime time.
When Peter Forsberg came up with the most unexpected greeting on television.

Few other hockey players have meant as much to Swedish hockey as the icons Mats Sundin and Peter Forsberg. They became giants in North America and perfect ambassadors for Sweden in the world’s best hockey league.

Together with Nicklas Lidström the star trio got the perfect finish in the final Olympic tournament as all three were involved in the decisive golden goal against Finland in the Olympic final. But there is also another fond memory that Forsberg has together with Sundin.

Foppa pays tribute to Sundin

Because when Mats Sundin was a guest in the TV4 program “Hellenius hörna” in 2018, his friend Peter Forsberg sent in a video greeting.
– I want to thank you Mats for letting me play with you. In 1992 you brightened our everyday life, we were on our way out of the WC and everyone said: “Now comes Sudden”. You came and decided against Russia and I got to be on the ice and watch, Forsberg told prime time.

The 1992 Hockey World Cup ended with Tre Kronor securing their sixth World Cup gold after Sundin connected late in the tournament and then decided the quarter-final against Russia with an unforgettable solo goal. Foppa then lifts Sudden’s huge winner’s skull.

But Forsberg’s tribute to Sundin becomes a little too private when he has to describe his teammate’s will to win at all costs. And it even makes Mats Sundin embarrassed in the TV box.
– It was always fun to play with you Mats. When you were there it was never theater or chicks – it was just about winning hockey games. Hope you have a good time at home, have a good time in the cold, greeted Peter Forsberg in the program.
