Peter Forsberg’s own words about his crazy JVM record – which no one has broken in 29 (!) years: “In retrospect…”

Last minute The world stood up after Putins decision in

Peter Forsberg is still the Junior WC’s uncrowned king.
No one has yet beaten the Swede’s crazy scoring record from 1993.
– We had a terrible fifth, he says.

Peter Forsberg is undoubtedly one of Sweden’s greatest hockey players of all time. He was a winner like no other, and the Swede’s enormous track record is something few can match.

Crazy record

Or how about two World Cup gold medals as well as as many Olympic and Stanley Cup wins. Foppa is also one of the few Swedes who has been inducted into the hockey Hall of Fame.

Forsberg broke through in the early 90s in his beloved Modo where he poured in points for his young age. Around that crank, he also participated in several Junior WCs and Foppa holds the record for the most points during a championship. No one has so far matched his insane 31 points in seven games.

I actually have no idea why it went so well. Our entire chain was fantastic, you could say, says Foppa to Hockey Sweden about the achievement.

“Many things came into play”

He continues:

We had a great fifth, I got to play an incredible amount, got to feel confident and we played at home. There were quite a few things that came into play. In addition, we had an incredibly good power play. We had a practiced version where we probably scored over fifty percent.

Peter Forsberg and his Sweden eventually fell to Canada, who did not lose a game throughout the tournament.

In retrospect, Canada had good players and, as I said, went undefeated. It was between them and us, but we had a bit of trouble and Canada this little bit extra and a bit of luck. Then the match against Canada was incredibly even, says Foppa.
