Peter Forsberg reveals his absolute dream name for Tre Kronor in the hockey World Cup: “I’ll be honest”

Close to stars on the ice – and on TV.
Ice hockey icon Peter “Foppa” Forsberg will be an expert commentator on Viaplay’s television broadcasts during the Ice Hockey World Cup in May.
– I think it is good that you are honest. Then I think you get the most respect from the players, the leaders and the crowd at home, he says.

Peter Forsberg is one of Sweden’s best ice hockey players of all time. In February 2011, the long and successful career ended with the Colorado Avalanche, where Forsberg won two Stanley Cup titles.

In Tre Kronor, Forsberg has won two WC golds and two Olympic golds.

Now the icon changes sides in the World Cup – and will assess the Swedes’ game on site in the Czech Republic.
– I must be honest with what I think and think as an expert. But I want to promote hockey as well, not just talk negatively, says Forsberg during a press conference.

Could appreciate the criticism

He looks back at what he himself thought of experts as players.
– If you have done something wrong, it is not surprising that someone says so. Sometimes I could then think, this person actually has a bit of a clue. You might not like it at the moment, but when you swallow it an hour or so later, you might think it was still good.

It is not the first time that Forsberg is a TV expert during a championship. The 50-year-old also worked with the Olympics in Beijing, then for Discovery+.
– Basically, it’s because I think it’s fun. I look forward to being close to the squad and the ice, says Forsberg.

Other ready experts for the Ice Hockey World Cup in May are Jacob Josephson, Håkan Södergren, Valentina Lizana and Mattias Norström. In Viaplay’s broadcasts, the presenters and the brothers must also Niklas Jihde and Peter Jihde participate, as well as the commentator Niklas Holmgren.

“Foppa’s” dream name

Several NHL stars have already agreed to join this year’s Tre Kronor team. Not least the slopes Erik Karlsson and Rasmus Dahlinand the forward Joel Eriksson Oak.

One of Peter Forsberg’s dream names for Tre Kronor is Victor Hedman on the reverse side.
– Then one of Elias Pettersson and Filip Forsberg because they meet (in the NHL Round of 16 right now). It would have been a huge reinforcement, says “Foppa” Forsberg.
