Peter Forsberg has turned 50 years old.
But the love for hockey has not cooled.
Now the Swedish icon will make a comeback to the ice again.
He is one of Swedish hockey’s best players ever. Double Olympic gold, double World Cup gold and double Stanley Cup titles as well as 885 points in 708 games in the NHL speak for themselves.
Forsberg returns
Now the icon will Peter Forsberg return to the ice again to lace up the skates again. After his hockey career ended far too soon, “Foppa” has returned to the ice on several occasions with the celebrity team “Icebreakers” and most recently he played in Börje Salmings tribute match “Game for Börje”.

Now the 50-year-old will lace up his skates again for a historic match in Canada. Forsberg has accepted the charity match in Toronto in connection with this year’s gala for the Hockey Hall of Fame.
“Slower this year”
The match will be played on November 12 and for the first time ever it will be a showdown between Team Playmakers and Team Goal Scorers. Foppa takes his place in the playmaker team called Team Oates and has already started preparing.
– I have started to move around here in Switzerland. Trained a session last Saturday and will start the lunch hockey again later this week, he tells SportExpressen and answers how the day’s form is.
– Hm, I get slower and slower from year to year, haha.

In Forsberg’s team we find big names such as Adam Oates, Pierre Turgeon, Ryan Getzlaf and Keith Yandle etc. While in the goal scorers team the players are named Joe Nieuwendyk, Mike Gartner, Peter Bondra and Patrick Marleau etc.
Henke is elected
Several of the players, like Peter Forsberg, have been inducted into the Hall of Fame and in connection with this year’s gala will also Henrik Lundqvist to be selected. But Foppa needn’t be too worried because it wasn’t that long ago that he was playing hockey.
– Actually in August this year. Then it was about a charity match in Stavanger in Norway, which Mats Zuccarello organized. And the year before that we had some games with the Icebreakers. Then I have driven a bit in a senior league in Switzerland in recent years, he admits to the evening newspaper.

But now it will be something completely different in Canada with so many big names on the ice. And the team will also be coached by Ken Hitchcock, with whom Foppa had a close relationship during his career.
– I just don’t know who will score the goals for us. But it will be fun to meet all the old players from the NHL. And I had Ken Hitchcock as a coach in the Philadelphia Flyers, he says in the interview.
