Peru report highlights violence of protest crackdown

In Peru, the government has been singled out by the Inter-American Court of Human Rights. A special mission from the IACHR had gone to the country to investigate possible human rights violations during the repression of a major protest movement between December and February. The Court considers that the Peruvian government could be responsible for arbitrary detentions, even extrajudicial executions, in particular in Ayacucho, in the south of the country.
