Person shot during robbery in Langton, police looking for three suspects

Police are looking for three suspects after a person was shot during a robbery in Langton on Thursday.

At about 10:13 pm, Norfolk OPP officers and Norfolk County Paramedic Services responded to a report of a robbery on Norfolk County Road 23.

Police say five people were involved in an interaction and one suspect “brandished and discharged a firearm at the victim,” and stole a large quantity of Canadian currency.

The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was later taken to hospital.

The three suspects are described as men with dark complexions, all dressed in black clothing. During the incident, all three were seen carrying firearms and were driving a dark-colored SUV, said police.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Norfolk OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Motorists who were near the intersection of Norfolk County Roads 21 and 23 at the time of the incident and noticed anything suspicious are urged to contact police immediately.

RIDE program results in almost 300 impaired driving charges in West Region

Members of the OPP West Region laid nearly 300 impaired driving charges during the OPP Festive RIDE campaign.

The 2024/2025 RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) program ran between Nov. 21 and Jan. 1. During that time OPP West Region officers conducted 1,938 RIDE check events across 13 West region detachments, including Brant, Haldimand, Essex, Huron, South Bruce, Gray Bruce, Lambton, Perth, Norfolk, Elgin, Middlesex, Oxford and Wellington.

Police issued 292 impaired driving charges and 19 warn-range suspensions.

In Brant, there were 107 RIDE checks and 17 impaired driving charges laid.

In Norfolk, there were 130 RIDE checks and 24 impaired driving charges laid. In Haldimand, 15 drivers were charged with being impaired.

Essex had the highest number of impaired driving charges (48), followed by Oxford and Wellington (both with 32), and Middlesex with 31.

Last year, officers laid a total of 353 impaired charges and 55 warn-range suspensions at 2,446 RIDE checks in the OPP West Region.

The RIDE campaign is an annual police enforcement and education initiative aimed at taking impaired drivers off Ontario roads during the holiday season.
