Person seriously injured in armed robbery at a Simcoe home: Police

One suspect is in custody and two others remain at large following an armed robbery in Simcoe.

Norfolk OPP responded to the report of a robbery at a Norfolk Street South home at about 11:34 pm on Sunday, June 9.

Police say three individuals arrived at the residence just before 10:30 pm and engaged in an argument with a person inside the home.

The person was assaulted with an edged weapon and was later taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The suspects fled on foot, taking with them some of the person’s property.

Just before midnight, officers on patrol saw two individuals walking on Queen Street North in Simcoe. One fled, while the other suspect — who matched the description given — remained and was arrested.

The suspect in custody was found to be in possession of some of the victim’s property, said police.

A 34-year-old Norfolk County man is charged with robbery with a weapon, and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

The two suspects at large are described as Caucasian males. One was wearing a black baseball cap, gray sweatshirt, and black sweatpants. The second suspect was wearing dark-colored pajama-style pants, a light blue and purple hooded sweater, and black Nike sandals.

Police believe there is no threat to public safety and anticipate further arrests.
