Mikaela Shiffrin has touched Ingemar Stenmark herself.
But Pernilla Wiberg, who claims otherwise, does not think so.

When Shiffrin won the giant slalom in Åre on Friday, she became historic and touched Stenmark itself with the most victories at the World Cup of all time. The Swedish slalom icon Pernilla Wiberg is really impressed by the achievement of reaching Stenmark, but she still wants to put her foot down.

Wiberg’s tribute

Wiberg still pays tribute to Shiffrin but is clear that Stenmark is still the best in alpine contexts.
– Ingemar took on fewer competitions to win so many competitions. At the same time, Ingemar has competed in fewer disciplines and Shiffrin has many more disciplines today. We should also not forget that Stenmark has three victories in a row, which at the time were not counted as World Cup victories. If you were to add the three, he actually has 89 World Cup victories and then Shiffrin is not caught up yet, “Pillan” admits to the TV channel.
