People’s favorite Jacob Hård reveals his strongest sports memory – chooses the Swedish icons before Usain Bolt: “It overflows”

He is one of our very biggest in TV Sweden.
Now, beloved Jacob Hård reveals his strongest sports memory as a commentator.
And then two Swedish icons are mentioned – before the legendary Usain Bolt.

Jacob Hård av Segerstad, popularly known as Jacob Hård, was born in 1955 and is still active today as one of our foremost and most knowledgeable commentator voices. He is one of our most beloved people in televised sports, and over the years he has also managed to become strongly associated with the near-legendary character Bo A Orm.

44-year career

Jacob Hård, just like so many other legendary television voices, began his career at Radiosporten in 1980. Before that, Hård had been a talent in athletics, and especially in the 800 meter event. Today, Hård is perhaps our foremost athletics commentator, and this is perhaps explained by the early talent he displayed in the sport.

The move to SVT took place in 1986, and even though four decades have passed, Jacob Hård has become faithful to the channel. There has not been a lack of offers from other channels for Hård, but he has chosen to remain on public service, and over the years has formed brilliant radar pairs with first Christer Ulfbåge, and then Anders Blomquist during ski competitions. Jacob Hård has had time to experience most of it, and he has seen countless major championships on site, as the viewers’ guide.

Points out the Swedish icons

In a chat with SVT a few years ago, Hård was asked which, of all the moments, had been the strongest for him as a commentator. It is important to remember how many Olympics and WC Hård has actually been to, and which unforgettable moments in sports history that he had the honor of perpetuating. But despite all the great moments, it is two Swedish icons that Hård mainly chooses to highlight.

Because although Usain Bolt is certainly mentioned, it is Stefan Holm and Charlotte Kalla who stand out for Hård.

“There is a lot to choose from… Stefan Holm’s Olympic gold in 2004 and Charlotte Kalla’s win in the Tour de Ski are at least two highlights,” writes Hård first.

“But having experienced Usain Bolt, Carl Lewis, dream team in basketball 92, Gunde and Wassberg, Carolina Kluft… It kind of overflows,” he then continues.
