One of the most impressive aspects of the Lord of the Rings trilogy is Andy Serkis’ special acting performance. With the help of motion capture process he slipped into the role of the scheming Gollum, who wants to take the ring from Frodo.
Nowadays is Gollum has long been a cult figure and Serkis is a sought-after expert on the technology. At the time, however, he was laughed at and sharply criticized for it.

Andy Serkis still thinks Gollum parodies are justified today
