The game called “Project Maverick”, developed for Xbox, will be released as a result of a $ 30-50 million agreement between the companies.
According to a report by Interia, Polish video game studio People Can Fly will develop an AAA game for Xbox called “Project Maverick”. Xbox and Microsoft will pay around $30-50 million for this contract work. The report states that the game will be based on an existing Xbox IP, but which IP it will be is still a mystery. In the past, PCF has worked with Xbox and co-developed ports and mods for Gears of War.
A new AAA game for Xbox from People Can Fly
PCF has a strong relationship with Microsoft. The company recently released Outriders, a futuristic loot shooter released on Xbox Game Pass on day one. While this deal is developing Gears 6 with a new IP yet to be announced, this deal is likely to be for a future Gears of War game due to their experience with the series.
The project cost of $30-50 million is a small to midsize budget for a AAA game nowadays, but the fact that the studio is in Poland and the country is cheaper might suggest we can expect a larger project.
