The trial against the young man, who is suspected of having planned a murder, started today in Ångermanland district court. The man was arrested in September last year and has been in custody since then.
According to the indictment, he must have made extensive preparations to carry out the crime, including the purchase of saws, garbage bags and a robber’s hat. He has also done internet searches on how to take someone’s life and cover the tracks.
Among other things, the man has searched for “How do I train to be an assassin or a hitman?”
Hooked on TV series
During the first day of the trial, it emerged that the man has a fascination for the TV series “Dexter”. Dexter is an American TV series about a forensic technician specializing in blood analysis, but who is also a serial killer.
The defense claims that the objects found in his apartment, such as saws and garbage bags, were only part of his interest in the series where similar objects appear, and not intended to be used in any attempted murder.
– These are fantasies and a fascination, there is no intention in this, says the defender.
