Pentagon Spokesperson General Patrick Ryder evaluated the developments in the Middle East at the daily press conference.
Ryder shared the information that between October 17-24, at least 10 separate attacks were carried out on US and coalition forces with unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and rockets in Iraq and 3 separate attacks in Syria.
Stating that they know that the groups that organized the attacks are supported by the Iranian regime and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Ryder said, “We see the possibility of a more serious escalation in the near future from Iran’s proxy forces and ultimately against US forces and personnel across the region coming from Iran.” he said.
In response to a question about the 3 missiles fired towards Israel by the Houthis in Yemen on October 19, Ryder shared the information that the range of these missiles was around 2 thousand kilometers and evaluated that they could probably have reached Israel if they had not been shot down by USS Carney.
INTERVENTION TO MISSILES LAUNCHED FROM YEMEN
The Pentagon announced that it intervened in 3 missiles launched from Yemen across the Red Sea towards Israel on October 19.
It was noted that the missiles, which were said to have been launched by the Houthis, were shot down by the USS Carney warship operating in the region because they were “perceived as a potential threat”, and it was stated that the targets of the missiles were not known for certain. (AA)
