(Finance) – Identified as the first bankable day of the month, Payment of pensions for January 2024 begins today. Anyone who withdraws their pension in cash at the Post Office will be able to go to the counter, following the calendar in alphabetical order, again from today. The renewal operations – explains the INPS in a note – may have generated credit or debit adjustments for various reasons relating to the pension amount paid in the year 2023. These amounts were reported in the pension slip for the month of January 2024 with the description “Renewal Pension Adjustment”. The pension slip, accessible via an online service, is the document that allows pensioners to verify the amount paid each month by INPS and to know the reasons why this amount may vary.

Definitive revaluation index for the year 2023 – The automatic equalization increase, already attributed from 1 January 2023 on a provisional basis in the amount of 7.3%, was definitively determined in the amount of 8.1%. The related adjustment, equal to 0.8%, – INPS reports – has already been applied to the pension installment for the month of December 2023.

Provisional revaluation index for the year 2024 – Article 2 of the interministerial decree of 20 November 2023 provides that the percentage of change for the calculation of pension equalization for the year 2023 is determined to be +5.4 from 1 January 2024, subject to adjustments to be made during the equalization for the following year. The full revaluation, equal to 5.4% of the allowance, will be applied to pensions equal to or less than 4 times the minimum, i.e. up to 2,272.76 euros. Pensions from 4 to 5 times the minimum (from 2,271.76 to 2,839.70 euros) will have an effective increase of 4.59%. Pensions from 5 to 6 times the minimum (from 2,839.70 to 3,407.64 euros) will have an increase equal to 2.862%. Pensions from 8 to 10 times the minimum (from 4,543.52 to 5,679.40 euros) will have an increase equal to 1,998%. Finally, pensions exceeding 10 times the minimum, with a check exceeding 5,679.40, will have an effective increase of 1.188%. Pension support benefits (extraordinary allowances, isopension, expansion allowance, social APE) are not revalued as they do not have the nature of a pension benefit.

Remodulation of Irpef rates – In 2024, pensioners will receive a further increase thanks to the remodulation of the Irpef rates which have gone from four to three. The new rates provide a first band of up to 28 thousand euros of annual gross income, which will pay 23% of Irpef; second band from 28 thousand to 50 thousand euros of annual gross income, which will pay 35% of Irpef; third band above 50 thousand euros of annual gross income, which will pay 43% of Irpef.
