THREE NEWS YOU CAN’T MISS:
A pensioner in Lund must pay back SEK 913,000 to the Pensions Authority in wrongly paid pension and housing allowance, SEK 766,000 in guarantee pension and SEK 147,000 in housing allowance, Sydsvenskan reports.
The authority has reviewed the pensioner’s whereabouts for seven years, from the spring of 2016 to the spring of 2023, and concluded that too much of that time has been spent in Kosovo for the right to benefits to disappear. During the same period, there is no notification to the Swedish authorities about a stay abroad.
As evidence, there are, among other things, bank statements that show that the bank card was used exclusively in Kosovo during the audited period.
The right to guaranteed pension and housing allowance is lost if you stay abroad for longer than one year – and if it is judged that you have your actual residence abroad, even if you are formally registered in Sweden.
