The search follows the discovery last month by Mike Pence’s own lawyer that there were classified documents in the residence. The FBI then seized “a small number of documents,” which the lawyer said were “inadvertently packaged and transported” to Pence’s Indiana home at the end of then-President Donald Trump’s term.
Neither the Justice Department nor Mike Pence himself have commented on Friday’s search.
In a raid on Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence last year, the FBI took more than 100 classified documents. Earlier this year, a small number of classified documents were found in current President Joe Biden’s private residence in the state of Delaware.
