After four missed penalties, HV’s Oliwer Kaski slid forward against Petr Kvaca in the Rögle goal and missed his finish after a clear shot movement but was quickly in front and whipped in the puck that slid forward after the ice. The puck went between the leg pads of Kvaca, who had opened up.
The incident was video reviewed for a long time.
– The HV player shoots the penalty towards the goal, therefore the penalty is finished, announced the referee on the ice.
There was an uproar in the HV camp after the failed penalty. Goalkeeper Joni Ortio ironically applauded the referees afterwards.
“Thinks it’s a goal”
– They double-checked with Stockholm and the rulebook and they saw his finish as a penalty. I think the movement is still forward. I don’t know the rulebook, but as soon as you have control and the puck moves forward, I think it’s a goal, said HV defender Anton Strålman to TV4 Play.
– When they got 3-4, we got a little stiff and stopped skating fully, he says about the development of the match.
When Kaski’s penalty was disallowed, only Rögle’s Linus Sandin remained after five missed attempts. He picked up speed and lifted in a backhand, a neat penalty among a flurry of failed attempts.
HV lost four points against Rögle during the match
– I had made up my mind beforehand and tried to gain momentum. It was incredibly nice to see it go in. We have a good third period and it’s nice to get two points, says match winner Sandin to TV4 Play.
When HV led, they caught up with Rögle in twelfth place on safe ground in the table. But now they lost another point and are four points behind in 13th place.
