Dominique Pelicot drugged and raped his wife for ten years and also let 50 other men rape her.

On his computer, the “Monster from Avignon” had several pictures of his daughter sleeping in different changes of clothes. But that’s where the tracks end.

– I am convinced that he raped me, says daughter Caroline Darian BBC in his first televised interview since the trial.

Here she is applauded in court – the ex-husband is suspected of having raped her for 10 years

Dominique Pelicot, or the “Monster from Avignon” as he has come to be known, was arrested by the police when he sneaked his feet under women’s skirts in a grocery store. When they confiscated his computer, one of the biggest abuse scandals in French history was uncovered.

The evidence of the drugging and rapes of some 50 men against his wife Gisèle Pelicot was extensive.

– It was like an earthquake or tsunami in my own living room, says the couple’s daughter to the BBC.

Don’t have the same proof

But shortly after her mother, Caroline also received a call from the police. They showed her pictures from the computer that showed her sleeping wearing only a t-shirt and panties.

– I got to see two pictures of me where I am completely unconscious. The panties were not mine, she says and continues:

– I know he drugged me and probably raped me, but I don’t have any proof.

During the trial that shook France, there were strong emotions in the courtroom when Dominique Pelicot turned to his daughter in the audience and swore he would never touch her.

– You are lying. I’m tired of your lies. You are alone in your lies, you will die lying, Caroline shouted out into the courtroom.

“He should die in prison”

Now she has released the book “And I stopped calling you dad”.

– I have lost my father and had to go through this trial with my mother. Our family has lost something within us.

Caroline Darian tells how important it was for both her and her mother not to be anonymous in the trial in order to really shine a light on the terrible things the perpetrators committed – and with that also what her father did.

– I think there are two people in him and he chose the dark side. He is not sick, he did all this carefully calculated. He should die in prison, she says.
