Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk won the expected boxing heavyweight match for the second time over the British Tyson Fury’s. The two met last time in May.

This time, the 37-year-old Usyk won the match with a unanimous decision of the judges with a score of 116–112.

The WBA, WBC and WBO championships were at stake in the boxing super match. Usyk has won all 23 of his matches in professional circles.

Well-known boxing influencer Pekka Mäki saw that the match went according to plan.

– It was an even fight between two tough competitors. There was no doubt about the winner.

According to the expert, the winner was the right one this time too, albeit Fury’s manager Frank Warren had a different opinion.

– This is crazy, absolutely crazy, and I don’t understand this. I’m really disappointed. Fury boxed really well and I thought he dominated the fight. Usyk was on the bottom for most of the match, Warren was amazed.

Mäki disagreed based on the match data.

– Usyk was more accurate and accurate in the match. It was resolved that Usyk really clearly and spectacularly hit Fury in the body, Mäki analyzed.

Obvious flaws

Mäki sees clear flaws in Fury’s fight. The 36-year-old athlete is already showing his age, even though Usyk is a year older.

Mäki reminds us that it is partly about Usyk’s goodness.

– Strike series no longer work like they did years ago. Fury has had delicate hands. Now it seemed that the blows were left in the barrel. On the other hand, it is difficult to hit a moving target.

Usyk was well prepared for the match.

– I could have lasted until 15 innings. Maybe Fury’s preparation has not done everything as it was talked about. Usyk was able to increase the pace towards the end of the match. Although it was an even match, the winner was the real man.

Fury has fought 38 times as a professional and won 35. He has lost twice to Fury and fought an undecided Deontay Wilder with.

Fury vs. Joshua?

After the match, the British Daniel Dubois issued a challenge to the Ukrainian boxer. Usyk won the match last year, and now he was receptive to the invitation after a short break.

Mäki is doubtful that Usyk and Fury would meet for a third time. Fury originally retired in 2022, but returned to the ring.

Usyk has also beaten star boxers in his career Anthony Joshua. Mäki sees it as possible that the British Fury and Joshua could face each other for the first time.

– Usyk has made quite a strong impression on all British boxers. This match could open the door for a Fury-Joshua match. It was certainly in England a really attractive match to organize. The winner of that could still challenge Usyk.
