There is one thing that everyone knows about Pekka Lindmark.
He was a badass at saving pucks but hates to practice.
Now he gives his very own image of the legend about him.
He was the childhood idol of many and a real favorite with the supporters. It was hard not to love the gorgeous Peter “Pekka” Lindmark.
Pekka’s career
One of Sweden’s best hockey goalies of all time and the most beautiful of them all. Pekka had his heyday in the 80s when he was named the WC’s best goalkeeper on two separate occasions.

There were also two WC golds and four SM golds during the successful career of the so talented puck stopper. But besides being a phantom on the goal line, the big prejudice about Pekka Lindmark is that he hated training and only wanted to play matches.
Answer to the story
Above all, it was the summer training that he loathed and there is a story from his time in Timrå IK in the 80s that really captures the hockey icon’s personality. A Timrå coach allegedly told him that if he didn’t want to run with the rest of the team, he could at least take a walk to the kiosk when the cigarettes ran out.
– Yes, it was roughly like that, he himself admits to Sundsvalls Tidning over 40 years later.
– I have never liked summer training. When I was on the ice, I could get out as much as I wanted. I’ve never liked running, but it’s become cycling and stuff like that instead. But on the ice I gave at least as much as the others.

But Lindmark still managed to go far and during his time in Timrå he was selected for Tre Kronor and even though he played in division 1, he still got the chance to represent Sweden in the Canada Cup. And there meet big stars like Wayne Gretzky and Vladimir Krutov.
– It was big. It actually started when I was down there training with the national team and then I was still playing in the first division with Timrå. It was a Monday and I was down training with them. You were a little lucky and slipped a bit on a banana peel and then it was difficult to get out of there. Then they were involved ten years ago, he tells the local newspaper.

But it wasn’t always easy to come from the second division and play with star players from the Elitserien in the national team.
– They looked a little strangely at one at the beginning and wondered how one had ended up there. In the end you were accepted, but you were a little lost. It was special with the pace and everything. It went much faster but I have lived a lot on my game sense so it still went well, says Pekka and remembers back to his hockey career.
